Flat Roofing

We carry out the supply and installation of single ply membranes, bituminous felts, GRP Fibreglass systems and Liquid Coatings, including any insulation requirements. Whatever your flat roofing requirement for your project we will be pleased to offer a cost effective solution.  We can provide technical advice and expertise to our customers on all flat roofing projects to ensure the best possible solution is adopted. All our operatives are fully trained and approved in the products we install.

Liquid Roofing requires no open flames or other heat sources and the glass fiber reinforced systems provide seamless waterproofing around roof protrusions and details. Systems are based on flexible thermoset resin systems such as polyester and polyurethane, many of which are now odourless and non-toxic. In the United Kingdom, liquid coatings are the fastest growing sector of the flat roof refurbishment market. Cold applied liquid rubber offers similar benefits to thermoset resin systems with the added benefit of being quick to apply and having high elasticity. Liquid coating systems can provide product guarantees of up to 25 years.

Single Ply

Single-ply roofing consists of an impervious membrane formed by laying and joining strong, flexible sheets to create a continuous waterproof barrier across the surface of a flat roof. The sheets are joined using either heat or are self-sealing and are retained by mechanical fixing, adhesives, ballast, green roofs or paving. The membrane is generally made from a synthetic polymer that has been formulated to resist weathering, chemical oxidation and UV radiation and to retain its physical properties over a wide range of temperatures.

Torch On Felt

These come in a range of applications from single layer to three layers. With all these products you can introduce cut to falls insulation or uniform boards, we can assist with a design to suit any project requirements.

The three layer system we most commonly use is broken down by product below.

IKO SBS T-O Cap Sheet consists of a polyester carrier coated with SBS rubber modified bitumen.  The upper surface is finished with mineral granules and the lower surface has a sacrificial film which rapidly melts during the torching operation.  A 75mm sacrificial film selvedge facilitates easy bonding of side laps. IKO SBS T-O Cap Sheet is intended for use as part of a torch-applied built up roofing system for flat and sloping roofs.  It is ideal both for new roofs and for the repair of existing felt and asphalt roofs.

Features and Benefits

  • Torch-on application
  • High softening point coating
  • Strong polyester reinforced base
  • Excellent low temperature flexibility
  • Choice of colour finishes
  • 10 year materials guarantee

IKO Standard SBS Underlayer consists of a glass tissue carrier coated with rapid flow SBS rubber modified bitumen. The upper surface is finished with fine sand and the lower surface has a sacrificial film which rapidly melts during the torching operation.

IKO T-O Venting Layer is a glass fibre based perforated venting underlay, finished with sand surfacing on the topside and a polyethylene film on the reverse.  IKO T-O Venting Layer is specifically designed for use with torch applied roofing membranes and when used as the first layer of a torch applied built up felt roofing system, will provide a positive partial bond to prepared non-combustible substrates.

GRP – Fibreglass

A GRP roof is a single-ply GRP laminate applied in situ over a good quality conditioned plywood or OSB deck. The roof is finished with pre-formed GRP edge trims and a coat of pre-pigmented topcoat.

The durability and lightweight properties of GRP make it the ideal construction material for roofs.

GRP is better suited to small craft construction. It is often used on small domestic installations such as garages or small extensions, but usually fails prematurely when used on larger commercial scale projects. As well as being an inexpensive material, it is robust and will never corrode.
